CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Bikram YogaBikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga method is world renowned as an incredibly effective workout.  Due to the intense environment you burn more calories in a Bikram method class than in other style of yoga.  It also presents a big challenge for focusing the mind, which means you are completely absorbed by the practice, thus making it a great stress reliever as well as building self-confidence. Bikram yoga is a Hatha yoga class (posture-based) so it is not about moving from one posture to another it's about the postures themselves.  Bikram yoga is a fixed series of 26 postures created by Bikram Choudhury for its health giving benefits.  The series of postures work every joint, muscle, ligament, tendon, organ and system of the body to maintain health.  As Bikram says  from 'inside out bones to skin'. Held in an artificially heated room to 40-42 degrees and 40% humidity. This heated room supports deep stretching but also assists in the detoxification of the body through sweating and lymphatic drainage. Each posture is done twice with savasana (resting pose) in between each posture.  Bikram method is great for beginners and experts alike as each posture has an entry level description and as you progress you can gradually work towards the more advanced versions of each posture.  Seeing your gradual progress into the postures lesson by lesson is one of the benefits that make Bikram Yoga so addictive.

60 Minute Class - Bikram Yoga

In our 24/7 city culture we are constantly rushing from one thing to the next; Time for ourselves is usually not an option. The 60 minute class gives you that option to fit in a much needed stress-relieving stretch and sweat. During the 60 minutes we practice a few of the postures only once and there is very little time for procrastination.

This class is not suitable for first timers and so we recommend that you take a few 90 minutes classes before attempting the faster-moving dynamic class. Once again, it is great for all levels, just not complete beginners.
